From All Things Digital newsletter concerns about Apple’s Ipad.
Article cites Apple’s control of application providers and one program running at a time feature as part of an Iphone type business model that will chill innovation unlike the computer model where manufacturer does not control software programs or content. My view is that future Ipad device competitors, particularly computer hardware manufacturers like Dell and HP, less constrained by the relative size of the Ipad vs. Iphone, will be more effective than the mobile device makers have been to seize upon these deficiencies. Only time will tell, but as Steve Jobs caused Amazon to raise the $9.99 e-book price, so may he be forced to open standards. For more information, see article cited in newsletter:
